The talented minds that created this incredible piece are Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas. The show first premiered in 1991 in Brighton, UK. An extended version of the play was also created in 1995 which was staged in Brighton Festival in the UK followed by Melbourne in Australia.

The following year it was performed at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas with an expanded cast. The theatre for the performance was created specifically for STOMP and cost $28 million to construct. Everywhere the show performed, it received acclaim as an inventive and energetic performance with music and dance beautifully blended in a live theatre presentation. The theatre performance itself can be classified as a percussion group using body and ordinary household objects to create a spectacular effect. The basic element of STOMP is rhythm, which in itself has the beauty of being universal, free from all barriers of language and culture and therefore immediately the audience can make a connection.
