The strangely original Stomp musical ensemble is back on, cracking up the stage with their ravishing performances. They have been active since 1991, trying to stay true to their idea that they don’t need specialized instruments to create music, for them everything can create music. The show originally started from Brighton UK and now has taken over the world with its excellence. They are energetic, they are fun and they are original- they are the Stomp. The current lineup of the troupe includes Alan Asuncion, Michelle Dorrance, Marivaldo Dos Santos, Dustin Elsea, Fritzlyn Hector, Brad Holland, Lance Liles, Stephanie Marshall, Keith Middleton, Jason Mills, Joseph Russomano and Carlos Thomas. STOMP is a fantastic mix of dance moves and music. The STOMP started in the early 90’s with Steve McNicholas and Luke Cresswell. They created this show in Brighton, UK for the first time and the show was an outright success right from the beginning. It got the Daily Express’ Best of the Fringe award and was hailed as the Critic’s Choice by Guardian for its first performances.
The original cast of this show includes David Olrod, Luke Cresswell, Carl Smith Nick Dwyer, Theseus Gerard, Sarah Eddy, Fraser Morrison and Fiona Wilkes.
Stomp was soon travelling all around the world with their theatrical extravaganza. They have been to Hong Kong, Barcelona, Dublin, Sydney, Germany, Holland, San Francisco, France, and Acropolis. STOMP has been responsible for some groundbreaking performances and they have been able to break all the previous box office records set by any other artist including Frank Sinatra. They have performed at the Academy Award distribution ceremony. They have also recorded a Television production for HBO and have been nominated for four Emmys. STOMP has recorded music for a number of movies like Tank Girl and Riot. They have also been featured in various commercials.
Stomp has been a part of many amazing events live and recorded. They have brought an entirely new form of physical theatre to the table. They have turned the theatrical entertainment into something magical. It is the place where everyday life turns into a big musical drama. They have also been a part of many television shows including the Emmys, the Academy Awards, the Latin Grammys, Good Morning America, General Hospital, Ellen, Leno, Mad About You, Letterman, Roseanne, Sesame Street's Let's Make Music with the Muppets, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, CBS Sunday Morning, Conan and The Today’s Show. They have also been mentioned and emulated in shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway, Saturday Night Live, Hey Arnold!, the Micallef Program, the Simpsons and 3rd Rock from the Sun.
