The musical Sister Act is based on the hit movie of the same title that was a hit comedy on the big screen in 1992. The musical was written by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner with added support form Douglas Carter Beane. Glenn Slater did the lyrics while Alan Menken provided the music for the show. The musical premiered in 2006 at the Pasadena Playhouse in California. The premiere broke records with highest gross business of a show at the venue. The gross amount was a little over one million dollars.  Los Angeles Times recorded a review by Charles McNulty, he wrote about the musical that it has "Broadway blockbuster written all over it". It turns out that Charles was not wrong to have said that. Year 2011 marked the opening of the musical at the Broadway Theatre with new revised adaptations.

Story of the musical Sister Act revolves around a singer named Deloris. She witnesses a murder by her boyfriend Vince. She is provided witness protection and sent to a church by the authorities. There she makes friends with the nuns and joins a lifeless dull choir. She helps the nuns find their voices and discovers her own talent as well. How she does that? Does she get caught by her ex-boyfriend?
