Marianne is passionate and romantic while the other sister, Elinor is the rational and organized one. In the very beginning of the story the sisters along with their mother are seen moving to southern England from their home in Norland Park. This is where both discover the new love; Elinor finds Edward and Marianne falls for Colonel.
