Hailing from Nova Scotia, Canada, Sarah McLachlan became interested in music at an early age. She was only seventeen when she fronted her first band, a short lived rock act called “The October Game”. McLachlan was offered a recording contract by an independent record label after a label executive watched her performing live with her band at Dalhousie University. After completing her High School education and finishing a year at the prestigious Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, McLachlan moved to Vancouver to pursue her lifelong dream of being a recording artist.
During the course of her career, McLachlan has released seven studio albums. Her first album, Touch (1988) was the perfect springboard for her career, as it became a commercial and critical hit and spawned the hit single, “Vox”. McLachlan’s third album, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy (1993) was her international breakthrough, and charted in numerous countries around the world. Her follow-up album, Surfacing, became McLachlan’s best-selling album to date and won her two Grammy Awards and four Juno Awards. As of today, the album has sold more than sixteen million copies worldwide.
McLachlan’s success allowed her to launch the Lilith Fair, which was a concert aimed to promote female artist performances. As of today, it has become the biggest all-female lineup concert tour in the country.
McLachlan’s support tour for her latest album will feature a stop in Troutdale, which is the artist’s first major performance in the city. The small city in Oregon is usually not a regular stop for major artists, so McLachlan’s concert in the city will be historic.
