Plans backfired

Originally, the plan was to debut Prince of Broadway in Toronto in November of 2012. The cast that was announced to feature in the production included, Linda Lavin, LaChanze, Emily Skinner, Shuler Hensley and Sierra. It was unveiled that Dancap Productions will be the lead producer of the show but the company pulled out.

That just delayed the plan because there were no plans to shelve the play. A month later in May, it was revealed by the show’s new producers, Steven Baruch, Tom Viertel, Richard Frankel and Marc Routh that Prince of Broadway will be premiered in the fall of 2013. The masterpiece was on its way to completion.

In the spring of 2013, fans that were looking forward to seeing Prince of Broadway live received more disappointing news. The spokesperson of the producers broke the news that the show will not be presented in fall. The show’s choreographer, Susan Strowman shared her thoughts by stating, "I still can't get over the fact that at the last Tony Awards ceremony, 5,000 people leapt to their feet to give Hal a standing ovation, but none of them were willing to join us on 'Prince of Broadway.’ I just thought: 'What? What? All this love, but we can't raise the money?”
