Pippin the musical takes the audience on a journey, where they see the struggle of a young prince who yearns to find the meaning of his life. The story is narrated by the Leading Player, an entity with supernatural powers, who grants Pippin his wishes; but like most of us, Pippin is not sure what he wants when he gets them to come true.
The story is told by the talented and energetic performers, who ensure there is never a dull moment on stage with their acrobatics and high flying acts. They balance on wobbly towers, hang by their toes, fly on trapezes and jump from perilous heights. The vibrant action on the stage never ceases and with each scene getting more and more exciting the performers match it up with their antics.
Pippin’s revival, like its predecessor, made a huge impact by winning four Tony Awards. Three of the Awards included “Award for Best Revival of a Musical,” “ Best Actress in a musical” and the “Best Direction of a Musical.” It won as many Drama Desk Awards out of a total of six nominations. The fresh take on Pippin was like by the majority of the critics. Get Pippin Pittsburgh tickets and watch the fast paced musical as it plays at the Benedum Center.
