Diane Paulus’s artistry and imagination has earned the revival critical acclaim along with Drama Desk, Drama League and Outer Critics Circle awards. As part of its upcoming trek, Pippin will also be staging performances at the Orpheum Theatre. With Pippin Omaha tickets enjoy the “eye-popping”, “dazzling” show.
Premiering almost four decades ago, Pippin continues to create magic on stage. The musical raised its curtains in 1967 at the Carnegie Mellon University. Produced by the Scotch and Soda Club, it included Stephen Schwartz and Ron Strauss, who were at that time undergraduates. In just five years Pippin landed on Broadway and went on to win five Tony Awards, along with immense audience acclaim. Choreography by Bob Fosse earned special praise and he was honored with a Tony Award and Drama Desk Award.
The revival of Roger O. Hirson’s script and Stephen Schwartz’s music came in 2013, when Diane Paulus took the reins in her hands. The story centers on Pippin, the eldest son of King Charlemagne and his quest to find his place in the world. The audience is taken on an interesting journey with Pippin as he searches for an extraordinary life that’s devoid of politics, war, religion and pleasures of the flesh.
Superb choreography was what made Pippin a crowd-pleasing show the first time and Paulus has taken the same route with the revival. Choreographer Chet Walker has paid homage to Fosse’s original moves and came up with an entertaining circus spectacular. Pippin Omaha tickets will treat the audience to jaw-dropping aerial feats and gymnastics. Combined with Paul Kieve's illusions and Dominique Lemieux's costumes, Pippin will keep you captivated throughout. If you’ve always wanted to enjoy the highs of Cirque du Soleil with a touch of Broadway’s pizzazz, then Pippin is the show for you.
