Pippin is a lively play which gives the audience food for thought. It is set in the time when kings met nobles and courtiers looked after their needs. However, the play is not focused on the king; it is based on his son Pippin, a young ambitious person who wants to explore the meaning of life. The song "Corner of the Sky"echoes Pippin’s need to find the significance of his existence. A mystical entity, named the Leading Player, plays an important role in the story. The Leading Player takes Pippin through a series of experiences which show the young prince’s naïve view of the world.

In the play, John Rubinstein plays the role of King Charles. Rubinstein made his Broadway debut four decades ago playing the role of Pippin. Now, sixty seven years old, he plays the role of Pippin’s father. Sasha Allen, the finalist of the TV show ‘The Voice’, plays the role of the Leading Player. Allen’s strong vocals and expressive voice sets the tone for the musical with the opening song, ‘Magic to Do’. As the play progresses, the troupe accompanying the Leading Player, raise the tempo with their acrobatics.
