However, later in 1966 it was once again ready for its premiere in UK. The opera was brought to the United States and was staged there as a concert in 1964. The first stage performance in the US was held in 1971 at the San Francisco Opera. Joan Sutherland played the title role in the US production of the opera. It has gained more popularity in recent years and has given eighty six performances of eighteen productions in sixteen venues in different cities from 2011. It went on until 2013. "Three Donizetti Queens" has been presented by some of the other US companies including the Dallas Opera and The Minnesota Opera. Metropolitan Opera also featured it as part of 2012-2013 season, starring Joyce DiDonato.
