Lion King Kalamazoo Tickets
The Lion King is an iconic Disney cartoon that has become an equally iconic piece of musical theater. The Julie Taymor directed production is considered an inspired idea, as it infuses puppets and human beings in order to recreate a jungle on stage. Hans Zimmer has composed the score while Elton John has written it. The experience is fascinating, as humans mirror the movements of cheetahs, zebras and lions. This is a theatrical experience like no other and in 2018 it is headed to the Miller Auditorium at the Washington State University. Lion King Kalamazoo tickets are all you need to watch this musical live in your city.
They pulled it off!
Recreating The Lion King for a theatrical environment was a challenge in itself. The expansive imagery of the original film, including two stampedes of different-sized animals, is not naturally atuned to a theater. The director Julie Taymor decided to use puppets and keep the operators of those puppets in plain sight as well. She began referring to them as ‘humanimals’ and used the actor’s movements to create mood and impact. She also makes use of the audience wings in the theaters, using galleries to house bird characters. This allows for the audience to become a part of the action and gets their adrenaline pumping. The humanimals deliver monologues, sing songs, become a chorus and interact with one another. It truly is an exciting spectacle for the audience. Elton John and Hans Zimmer’s music and lyrics add layers of richness to this show as well.
