This exciting story revolves around a Parisian courtesan whose life is full of ups and downs. After numerous random sexual encounters and flings, she meets a guy and believes that he is the man she could settle down with. But can the courtesan find his true love or will they have a happy ending, La Traviata tell this story in such a fine way that you are going to fall in love with the show. Full of twists and turns, and superb music the show is definitely going to take your breath away.

The main character of the story, Violetta Valery is not somebody who can be entertained and pleased very easily. Being a woman who has seen experienced a lot in a very small age, Violetta Valery wants to enjoy all the material pleasures of the world. But when she meets the handsome and dashing, Alfredo she starts doubting her goals of enjoying a lavish life in Paris. She is now confused and thinking weather the love of Alfredo be enough for her, or not?

Verdi the Piave wanted to give a contemporary setting to the play by choosing Dumas but on the insistence of La Fenice’s authorities it was decided to be set in the era of c. 1700. Later on, in 1880s the librettist's and composers’ original desires were approved and its realistic productions were produced.

La Traviata was performed on March 6th, 1853 for the first time at La Fenice opera house of Venice. The play wasn’t too successful in the beginning but later on after some revisions and changes, it was played in Venice during 1853 and 1854. Its performance at the Teatro San Benedetto became a critical hit and the main reason of its fame was Maria Spezia-Aldighieri who played the role of Violetta in it. There have been several films and other versions created on La Traviata and all of them have been very successful.

La Traviata doesn’t only have a strong story but also a great deal of emotional appeal.
