JuggleMania is a show featuring thrilling circus tricks and interactive comedy, designed and performed by artist Rhys Thomas. This combination of dexterity and comedy is added to with a session called the Science Circus. The show includes exciting tricks, clean family comedy, educational options and interactive shenanigans that make JuggleMania tickets just the perfect opportunity for all those looking to watch something unusual. The show has intrigued varying and diverse crowds at Smithsonian Institution, International Congress for Neurological Surgeons, cruise ships from the Mediterranean, shopping malls of Singapore, festivals, banquets, schools, and American theaters for more than twenty years.
JuggleMania theater shows have often been compared to the likes of a Pixar film owing to its attributes of family entertainment. Thomas has given performances in completely sold out houses of duo and solo concerts in theaters all over Canada and the Pacific Northwest. In a duo performance with Shoehorn, the famous multi-instrumentalist, Thomas is seen playing alongside one of the most renowned artists of the world. In the capacity of a solo act, he has also had the experience of opening shows for several national stars such as Weird Al Gore, Weird Al Yankovic, Leon Redbone and The Smothers Brothers. In concerts, Thomas performs his juggling routines to the music as he did in his famous performance with Shoehorn in which the latter has played world beat, jazz, hip hop and classic soundscapes in rhythm with Thomas’s handstands, escape artistry, ropewalking, storytelling, and acrobatic play ladder. Though sax and tap are a favorite of Shoehorn, he has also played tunes from children’s toys, drums, clarinets, piano, as well as his electronic mid invention of the E-Tap which is now patented.
Banquet presentations of JuggleMania have intrigued audiences from Nike, Boeing, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and of course the National Congress of Clowns from America. Thomas has performed in several festivals around the globe including the World Cup Street Performer Festival held in Shizuoka, Japan where the artist performed his spinning bowls routine. His show has been described as a festival choice with no risk, with stage shows being his specialty while his passions lean towards routines involving flexibility. When off-stage, Thomas has performed strolling acts involving cruising on a tiny bike, spinning balls on passersby, stilt puppetry, skywriting, hands-on juggling lesson and the most exciting of all his acts— WILT which is the huge rose that has been a regular intrigue at the Rose Festival in Portland.
Alongside JuggleMania, Rhys Thomas has also created a science circus that while provides entertaining demonstrations of concepts of gravity, serves as educational for children. In this session, Thomas teaches theories and concepts of physics, incorporating elements of hilarity, the comedic presentation of which has been termed wonderful by the Smithsonian Institution. Students are made to observe the constant acceleration of gravity by means of bowling ball juggling, inertia through a pull of classic tablecloth, center of balance with a six feet high unicycle, centripetal force by using cowboy lariats and the concept of gyroscopic stability by means of spinning glass bowls. This particular show has toured all the way from Trinidad to Singapore.
Another session of JuggleMania that is actually a sequel to the Science Circus, is the Gollyoloy presentation which is essentially the study of exciting tricks that make the audience say ‘Golly!’. This includes demonstrating the concept of rotation around the center of mass by juggling Chinese flower sticks and clubs while tips are given about balancing through scientific methods. Moreover, archaeology and chemistry are brought in to understand the dynamics of the greatest juggling ball in four thousand years through circus history. Gyroscopic stability is explored till five balls are left spinning on five children, all the fun of which is heightened when Thomas juggles and spins on a slackrope. If you are bored with attending the regular circus events and are looking for that something different which also happens to be funny enough, book JuggleMania tickets now.
