Foursomes have always attracted the audience with their numbers ever since The Beatles appeared on the scene in the 60s. But wait! You have probably forgotten about Four Seasons, one of the most successful rock 'n' roll groups of the same era. Premiering at La Jolla Playhouse in 2004, Jersey Boys is a documentary style musical capturing the exploits of Four Season. The stars of the popular group Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi have been brought to the stage. This new musical includes all their popular hit songs like 'Big Girls Don't Cry', 'Sherry', 'Oh What a Night' and 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You'.
In 2006, the musical won four Tony Awards including for the Best Musical and Best Actor. The hit songs of the group have been used in this group to highlight the dramatic rise of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Just the day after it opened, Jersey Boys earned $400,000 with its performance at August Wilson Theater where there were mostly middle aged people being so involved that they forgot everything about themselves for a while. The show toured for the first time in the national arena end of December 2006 when they performed at a theatre in San Francisco and then later on performed in Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theatre. Then it premiered in Chicago on October 2007 and at the moment the tour continues its journey.
Jersey Boys has also made it to the Royal gates by debuting at London's Edward Theatre in February 2008. The show was organized by the same team that presented the musical at Broadway. Ryan Molloy, Stephen Ashfield, Glenn Carter and Philip Bulcock starred as the fascinating foursome. The show was a hit with some media news pointing out that the musical even put The Beatles behind at times with their appeal. Plus the audience members were gripped by the attractive notes of the songs.
In May 2009, Jersey Boys opened in Las Vegas at The Palazzo Hotel in the special theatre winning acclaim from the newspapers all over. Rhino Entertainment made an original recording of the musical by the name, Jersey Boys: Original Broadway Cast Recording which has since then sold more than 500,000 copies in the US.
