The feel-good song, Flashdance... What a Feeling is played during the opening act of the musical which has been composed by Giorgio Moroder and written by Keith Forsey and Irene Cara. In May 1983, the song hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number one and has also won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Song.
In September 1983, the song Maniac also opened at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and was also nominated for an Academy Award. The song has been written by Michael Sembello and Dennis Matkosky who actually wrote it for a horror movie titled Maniac but later it was reworded so that it could be used in Flashdance. The singles, Gloria and Imagination are performed by Laura Branigan, Lady, Lady, Lady by Joe Esposito and I'll Be Here Where the Heart Is by Kim Carnes. On top of this, Robert Cary and Robbie Roth have written around sixteen more songs for this musical that are composed by Robbie Roth.
