When E. L. James penned the erotic romance novel ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ in 2011, little did she know that it’ll be listed as a bestseller, even breaking the record of the Harry Potter series. After witnessing stellar success as a musical parody, SPANK! The Fifty Shades of Grey is followed by its next installment, “Cuff Me: The Fifty Shades of Grey Musical Parody”. Scheduled for an official premiere in May, the show is cashing on its brand name, with Fifty Shades of Grey tickets being booked in advance.
The story of Fifty Shades of Grey revolves around a student Anastasia Steele, who interviews the 27-year old business tycoon, Christian Grey for her university’s newspaper. What follows soon after is a relationship that’s based on ‘dominance and submission’. Falling under the erotica genre, the book found mainstream success and was mostly read by women. SPANK!
