Premiered back in 1964, Fiddler on the Roof stands as the only musical in history which has given well over 3000 performances. Its stupendous run of almost 10 years ever since its premier has made it the longest running musical of its time and the fourteenth longest running Broadway show of all times. The musical premiered on Broadway Productions at the Imperial Theatre in 1964, however later the musical was transferred to Majestic Theatre and later to The Broadway Theatre where the musical ran for record number of 3,242 performances. The original production starred Zero Mostel, Maria Karnilova, Beatrice Arthur and many others. The whole production was choreographed and directed by one man, Jerome Robbins. The musical opened at London's West End at Her Majesty's Theatre on February 16, 1967. After the closure of the original West End Productions, quite a few revivals of the musical also emerged in UK and England.
