The tragic part of the ballet starts when she meets a charming prince in disguise and falls for him. Later she finds out he is already engaged to someone else. Svetlana Zakharova will be performing the lead role of Giselle. Soloist Anastasia Goryacheva will be performing as one of the Giselle’s friends. She is a Russian ballerina and was employed at the Bolshoi Theatre in 1999. She has performed in countless Vladimir Vasiliev's productions such as Swan Lake. In the early 2000s, she played in several Yuri Grigorovich's productions. In 2009, Anastasia played Swanilda in “Coppelia” and also took part in Alexei Ratmansky's productions including Flames of Paris.
This romantic ballet is based in two acts and its libretto is written by Theophile Gautier. Giselle is one of the most popular ballet roles and was first performed in 1841 by a ballerina Carlotta Grisi from Italy. This ballet is highly acclaimed and Daily Express called it, "tremendously atmospheric and blessed with terrific performances, a fine production with all the heartbreak and potent tragedy one could wish."
