Billy Crystal 700 Sundays Tickets

Billy Crystal has displayed his talents in many arenas but he is perhaps best known as host of the Academy Awards. He enjoys the distinction of having hosted the Oscars eight times. He declined the ninth time as he was engaged with launching his hit show 700 Sundays. A Tony award winner himself, Billy Crystal is a stand up comedian, an actor, a film director, and a baseball player who has received recognition widely for each of his talents. Billy Crystal's accolades include American Comedy Awards in various categories, including Funniest Actor in a Motion Picture (in a leading role) for When Harry Met Sally (1989) and City Slickers (1991), Funniest Male Performer in a TV Special (leading or supporting role) Network, Cable or Syndication) in '91, '92, '93 and '98. He received the Creative Achievement Award in 1993. Crystal has also earned an Emmy for Writing in a Variety or Music Program for Midnight Train to Moscow ('90).

Billy Crystal performed his earliest gigs in New York. He was a regular at The Improv and Catch a Rising Star shows. In 1976 Crystal took part in Dean Martin's hilarious Celebrity Roast of Muhammad Ali, in which he did unforgettable impersonations of the boxing legend Muhammad Ali as well as of the famous sports news-castor Howard Cosell.

Billy Crystal was selected to be included in the lineup of the premiere of Saturday Night Live in 1975 but his sketch was cancelled. He performed on the show during that first season, going by the stage name Billy Crystal. He served as host of the show many years later, in 1984, and subsequently he joined the cast in 1984. Crystal's parody of talk show host Fernando Lamas became a big hit. His catch phrase "You look Mahvelous!" as the character of Fernando Lamas became so popular that Crystal's album release in 1985 of his stand-up comedy was titled Mahvelous! By the end of that year there was also a hit song number known as "deteyou Look Mahvelous!"

Billy Crystal received the Tony Award in 2005 for Best Theatrical Event for his show 700 Sundays, a two-act play with a one-man cast. The play is entirely Crystal's brainchild and revolves around the theme of his own experiences as a child growing up in Long Island, New York. Billy Crystal has toured widely with this stage act. In 2006 he toured the US with 700 Sundays, and in 2007, he toured Australia. Crystal got a book contract from Warner Books based on the popularity of the show. He wrote a book called 700 Sundays, published it in 2005.

As an addendum to his book, Crystal released two CD compilations that paid special tribute to his uncle Milt Gabler and to artist Billie Holiday. The compilations are called Billy Crystal Presents: The Milt Gabler Story and Billy Remembers Billie, which is a collection of Billy Crystal's Holiday favorites. Billy Crystal has proved time and again to be an outstanding artist whose acclaim is very well-placed.
