In the nineties, Ballet Arizona attained national recognition and in 2000, it acquired a new artist director, Ib Andersen, who is also its present director. Ib Andersen was responsible for reshaping Ballet Arizona and expanding its present performances to include many new works including several pieces by George Balanchine as well as works choreographed by Ib Andersen himself. Alongside Kevin Myers, Ib Andersen soon had Ballet Arizona prospering well into the new millennium.
 
Ballet Arizona is responsible for a good number of works, choreographed by the biggest names in ballet that include works by George Balanchine, Twyla Tharp and Christopher Wheeldon. Ib Andersen, Ballet Arizona’s artistic director, has also choreographed many ballets including new versions of Coppélia, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Nutcracker. These famous works have gained Ballet Arizona a lot of recognition and been recognized as outstanding by locals as well as visitors to Phoenix and the entire state of Arizona.
