Us Womens Soccer Tickets

US Women’s Soccer, the national team of the country, is the FIFA number one team in the world. It is under the aegis of the United States Soccer Federation. It is also a part of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF).
US Women’s Soccer team was formed in the 1980s. They played their debut game on August 18, 1985. Their first coach was Mike Ryan. From the very first game, the team showed a lot of potential. This was proven when they won their premier CONCACAF Women’s Championship in 1991 after beating Canada 5-0 in the final and qualified for the 1991 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The team won the World Cup final against Norway, two goals to one. Both the goals were scored by Michelle Akers who was awarded with a Golden Shoe for scoring the maximum number of goals (ten) in the tournament. Carin Jennings of the US was the Golden Ball Winner.
Since then, US Women’s Soccer team has performed consistently well and as a result, has been a power to be reckoned with. They hosted the CONCACAF Women’s Championship in 1993. They took the home ground advantage and won the tournament after defeating New Zealand, one goal to nil. They defended their title on the Canadian ground in 1994 CONCACAF Championship. The team scored six goals against the home team who remained goalless in the final. In 1995, the team lost to Norway 0-1 in the semi-final of the World Cup. They played the third place match against China and won it 2-0.

In 1996, US Women’s Soccer team proved their mettle once again when they won their first gold medal in The Summer Olympics which were hosted by the US. They beat China 2-1 in the final. The team was also awarded with the FIFA Fair Play Award. They were awarded ‘Team of the Year’ by the U.S. Olympic Committee in 1997. There came a slump 1998. They did not even qualify for the 1998 CONCACAF Championship. This remains the only year when the US was unable to participate in the tournament. However, things changed the next year. They automatically qualified to the World Cup as they were the host team, and went on to win their second World Cup.

US Women’s Soccer team won the CONCACAF titles in 2000, 2002 and 2006. They have won two more Olympic Women’s Gold Medals (2004, 2008) and a Silver Medal in 2000. They secured the third place in two consecutive World Cups (2003 and 2007) and are the runner-ups of the 2011 World Cup. They have won the Algarve Cup eight times. Two of their players, Michelle Akers and Mia Hamm are the only women and the only Americans to be included in the FIFA 100 which is Pelé’s list of 125 greatest living players in soccer.
Considering these credentials, there is no way you can miss US Women’s Soccer matches. Buy the US Women’s Soccer tickets and watch soccer at its best.
