In 1934, the nickname Huskies was added to college’s athletic team names, which was later more popularly called as U-Conn Huskies or UConn Huskies by 1939. The name is common for both men’s and women’s teams.

Among the many facilities this university offers to its athletic teams are included many stadiums and arenas for home games and good coaching services. Men’s and women’s basketball teams play their home games as well as practice at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion at Storrs Campus and also at XL Center in Hartford. These pavilions are equipped with the latest facilities for basketball training as well as regular games. Football team plays in Rentschler Field in East Hartford, a stadium that is situated among the beautiful sceneries of the city. Also at Storrs Campus is situated Joseph J.
