A Little History
The Toledo Mud Hens trace their roots back to the 1880s. It took them a little while to get going though and it was in the year 1927 that they won the first league title as members of the American Association. What followed was a very long championship drought. The Mud Hens joined the International League in 1965 and that is when their fortunes began to change again.
They won the division title in 1967 and then followed that up by clinching the league championship the very next year. That was as good as it got for them though. Things turned for the better at the turn of the century. The Mud Hens were crowned division champions four times between 2002 and 2007. More importantly, they also clinched a couple of league titles in 2005 and 2006.
The Fifth Third Field
The Fifth Third Field is the home of the Mud Hens since its completion in the year 2002. The ballpark has a seating capacity of 10, 300 and Newsweek has called it one of the best minor league ballparks in America.
