The Texas San Antonio Roadrunners are the athletics and sports varsity teams which represent the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in their intercollegiate sporting competitions. The Roadrunners compete in the Conference USA of the NCAA Division I and joined the conference earlier this year in July. Texas San Antonio Roadrunners tickets will allow you to catch live action from the Roadrunners’ away and home games, against some of the best college sports teams in the country, so don’t miss the chance to catch highly competitive sports action  featuring some of the sports stars of the future.

The University of Texas at San Antonio was established in 1969, and its athletics program has been an integral part of the institution ever since. Of the seventeen games in the University’s sports program, the one’s that stand out are basketball, volleyball, football, and track and field (both outdoor and indoor). The team has played in the Southland Conference for the majority of its history, and moved to the Western Athletic Conference for a short time, before joining the Conference USA.

Since 2003, the team has enjoyed a lot of success, and has won conference titles in various sports. Overall, since 2003, the Roadrunners have won thirty five team championships in the three conferences they have played in. Apart from the team championships, the Roadrunners have also been crowned the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Cup Champions in the 2007-2008 and 2010-2011 seasons. They also won the Western Athletic Conference’s Commissioner’s Cup last season.  Along with that, the Roadrunners have made sixteen NCAA tournament appearances, with the women’s golf team making consecutive appearances for the last three years in a row.

Since the team is the only NCAA Division I FBS institution in San Antonio, the support from the fans is massive. The Roadrunner’s hold several attendance records, including the record for the highest attended game for an NCAA Division I  This record was set during the Roadrunners inaugural football game in 2011. They also set a new record for the highest average home attendance for a new college football program.

The Roadrunners have a long and storied rivalry with the Texas State University Bobcats. Their meetings are usually called the I-35 Rivalry, in lieu of the I-35 highway that connects both schools. The rivalry dates back to 1991, when both schools became conference rivals, and continued when both schools joined the Western Athletic Conference. But as of this season, the two schools have joined different conferences, so they can no longer compete in NCAA Division matches together. However, both programs have expressed interest that the football rivalry should at least be preserved.

The main venues that the Roadrunners play in include the Alamodome, which was famous as the NBA home of the San Antonio Spurs. The almost seventy thousand capacity stadium becomes decked in orange and blue at one of the Roadrunners’ home games.  The basketball team play’s its games at the four thousand seat, Convocation Center, which has been the team’s home since 1975. The center is an amazing venue, as can be seen by the fact that it has hosted huge concerts by acts like AC/DC and Black Sabbath. The third major venue is the University’s baseball field, which is called the Roadrunners Field.

The Roadrunner’s athletics program is still evolving, and hopefully they will have found a permanent home in the new conference. Their various match-ups are guaranteed to be highly exciting because the team would want to stamp their authority on their new conference, so buy Texas San Antonio Roadrunners tickets and watch all their exciting games, live.
