Seton Hall Pirates often nicknamed Pirates are a group of varsity teams that play under the sponsorship of Seton Hall University that is located in the city of South Orange in New Jersey. A total of 14 teams play for the university with the men’s team taking part in 6 different games whereas the women participating in 8 events. The fight song is “Onward Setonia” and The Pirate is the official mascot. Team colors are gray, white and blue. Currently the director of athletics at the university is Patrick Lyons. The Pirates play all their basketball games at the Prudential Center that is situated on 165 Mulberry Street in Newark, New Jersey. This center is a popular mutlipuprose venue that is home to other teams like New Jersey Devils,   NJIT Highlanders and New Jersey Rockets. The venue has the capacity for almost 18,000 fans. It hosts games like basketball, lacrosse, indoor soccer, ice hockey, music concerts and even TV shows. The women basket ball team of Seton Hall Pirates uses Walsh Gymnasium. For baseball and soccer Owen T. Caroll Field is used. This stadium is located in South Orange, New Jersey and can seat up to 600 spectators.
 
Seton Hall Pirates have been actively taking part in games since the last three decades now. The men and women teams take part in games like basketball, cross country, golf, swimming & diving and soccer. The women teams also participate in tennis, volleyball and softball. The Pirates have qualified for the NIT basketball tournament 16 times. Some of the fine players that have been inducted in the esteemed university Hall of Fame are athlete Tracy Baskin who won the NCAA American championship three times, swimmer Louis Benza, baseball players Craig Biggio and Edward Blankmeyer, basketball players Harry Brooks and Jodi Brooks. Acclaimed fencing player and coach of Seton Hall Pirates Hanry Boutsikaris was awarded a Life Time Achievement Award in 1989 for his services for the game.
