The PGA Championship is one of the four major pro golf championships, held each year in the US. It was founded in 1916 and has been held since then. In 1894, two national golf championships were held in the US, with golf as a sport booming what with more than forty one gold courses in the US. Later that year, the US Golf Association was founded and in 1916, a similar organization, the Professional Golfers Association of American was founded in New York City. A new PGA agenda was then prepared by the new Professional Golfers Association of America and the first championship was then held at Eastchester, New York at the golf club, the Siwanoy Country Club.

In 2010, Martin Kaymer from Germany won the tournament, followed by Keegan Bradley from the US winning it in 2011.
