Based in Ottawa, Canada, the Senators participate from the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference. They have had considerable success over the years, and have entered the Stanley Cup playoffs twelve times in the last fourteen seasons. Alongside they have won four division titles, a conference championship and one Presidents’ Trophy. To date, their last appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals was in 2007.

The Senators were founded by Bruce Firestone, an Ottawa-based real estate developer, in 1990 but did not begin playing until two years later. They became the second team in NHL to acquire the name, Ottawa Senators. The original team with the same name was established in 1883 and recorded great victories, winning eleven Stanley Cups. The new Senators started playing in the 92-93 season and in 2012 were valued to be worth two hundred and twenty million dollars, according to Forbes Magazine.

The Senators’ success is quite evident from their fans presence which on average is among the highest attendances in the league. In 2007-2008, they recorded forty sell-out games out of forty-one, with a total attendance of more than eight hundred thousand in a regular season. These figures brought them the third highest attendance in the NHL while setting club records.
