The Northwestern Wildcats are the only private university in the Big Ten and by far the smallest, with around eight thousand undergraduates. The Wildcats have eight national championships to their name, one in men’s fencing and seven in women’s lacrosse. The women’s lacrosse team has dominated the sport in recent years, winning seven out of eight titles from 2005-2012.
The school’s football and basketball teams have not enjoyed much success in recent years, though the football team has participated in a number of bowl games. From 1995-2013, they participated in nine bowl games, out of which they lost eight. The team however, won the 2013 Gator Bowl, which gave the school its first bowl game victory since 1949. The Wildcats’ basketball team has not yet appeared in the NCAA tournament and the school won its last conference championship in 1933.

The Wildcats’ will face the Michigan Wolverines at Ann Harbor, giving the Wolverines home advantage. The Wolverines play football at Michigan Stadium, which is the largest stadium in the country, and the second largest stadium in the world.
