They will now soon face off against the Knicks in what promises to be a very close encounter. Get your New Orleans Pelicans New York tickets and enjoy the experience, live at the Madison Square Garden.

The New Orleans Pelicans joined the NBA only thirteen years ago, and as such are the youngest team in the league today. Every franchise struggles in the early years and the Pelicans now seem to be getting out of that phase. Their progress has been faster than most and they are expected to become perennial playoff contenders in a few years time.

Time for Change

The Pelicans were created in 2002 and trace their roots back to the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets’ owner, George Shinn had been facing quiet a lot of bad publicity and the franchise itself had been having problems with their playing arena.

In a bid to get over all his problems in one move, Shinn announced that he would be relocating the team, and in 2002, New Orleans was selected as the new destination. In order for the move to go through, a deal was made with Oklahoma in which the NBA promised them a new franchise that would retain the records and the history of the Hornets.

Time to Fly

The Pelicans played their first season in 2002 and it ended on a positive note as they made it to the playoffs and also posted a winning record on the board. Since then they have made it to the postseason six times in total, with them getting their hands on their first and only title, a division championship, in 2008.

They are now about to take on the Knicks. Book your New Orleans Pelicans New York tickets and watch all the action unfold live at the Madison Square Garden.
