Nba All Star Game Tickets

One of the most anticipated games in pro basketball, as well as all four of the major American pro sports, is the NBA All Star Game. Each year, it attracts thousands, live, and millions more watching the game on TV and through the internet. It is an exhibition game that is played each year, featuring the toughest basketball players in the league. Star players from the Western Conference face the Eastern Conference's best in a game that takes part during the NBA All-Star Weekend. Many have already purchased NBA All Star Game tickets for the next game.

The first ever NBA All Star Game was held back in 1951 at the Boston Garden. Since then, the game has taken place during NBA All-Star Weekend and is one of the most watched pro basketball games in the world. Each year, the lineup is chosen through fan ballots and head coach votes, in each of the two NBA conferences. The selected players then form up into squads that effectively make up the toughest teams in the NBA. In case of an injury, a replacement player is chosen by the NBA conference.

Just as the best players make up the NBA All Star Games squads, so are these squads coached by the best head in the conference. The head coach is chosen from the team with the best record, for the Western Conference and for the Eastern Conference. Pat Riley holds the record for coaching eight times in nine seasons from 1982 to 1990, after which it was decided that coaches couldn't coach two consecutive seasons. The game itself was founded as a publicity stunt for the NBA, inspired by the All-Star Game hosted by Major League Baseball. The first game saw the Eastern Conference's All-Stars team defeating the Western Conference by 111-94.

Ed Macauley of the Boston Celtics became the first NBA player to win the NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award. The first games success, with ten thousand plus live attendees, saw the game held again. The games format is also somewhat different from standard NBA games, such as the long halftime which features concerts. These have often seen the likes of Elton John, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, OutKast, Shakira, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Christina Aguilera perform.

In 2012, the game was held at the Amway Center with the Western Conference winning and Kevin Durant bagging the NBA All-Star MVP Award. In 2013, the game was held at the Toyota Center with the Western Conference again emerging as the victors. Chris Paul won the NBA All-Star MVP Award in 2013. The 2014 game, for which NBA All Star Game tickets are on sale, is set to be held at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans.

Anthony Davis sets new NBA All-Star Game Record

52- The number of points scored by Anthony Davis, the New Orleans Pelicans’ forward in the NBA All-Star game on Sunday.

What is so special about the number is that it beats the legendary Wilt Chamberlain’s record of 42 points in the All-Star game. Wilt set the record way back in 1962. It took 55 years for someone to eclipse Chamberlain’s record and that just shows how big an achievement it really is.

Davis not only beat it but topped it by 10 points to lead the West to victory over the East 192-182. Not surprisingly, Anthony Davis was declared the All-Star MVP at the end of the game.
