The National Association for Stock Car Racing (NASCAR) was the brainchild of Bill France Sr, who had a vision of bringing the thrill of high speed racing to the common person. Even though there are a large variety of events that are held under the umbrella of NASCAR, but the three most popular ones are the Sprint Cup Series, the Camping World Truck Series and the Xfinity Series.
In the Sprint Cup Series, a regular 36-race season is broken down into two halves. The first half is played like a regular season and consists of 26 races. The second half is more like the playoffs and only those drivers, whose rankings fall among the top 16, are allowed to compete in the remaining 10 races of the season.
The second half of the season is called the ‘Chase for the Championship’. The World Truck Series pits modified pickup trucks against each other.
