The Missouri Tigers’ Early Years
The Missouri Tigers is the name adopted by all the varsity sports supported by the University of Missouri. The first men’s basketball team fielded by the collegiate institution was in 1906. Coached by Isadore Anderson, the team played independently before joining the Missouri Valley Conference in 1907. It compiled a successful 10-6 score in its inaugural year. As a member of the Missouri Valley Conference, the team has finished in 3rd and 2nd places six times each and made its way to the top four times.
Recent Team Statistics
Over the years, the Missouri Tigers’ men’s basketball team has enjoyed considerable success. The Tigers joined the Southeastern Conference in the 2012 season. It qualified for the NCAA Championship’s first round for the year with an 11-7 score. The 2013 season was also a successful one as the Tigers qualified for National Invitation Tournament’s second round (9-9). As of January, 2015 the Tigers have won a total of 9 games under the leadership of head coach, Kim Anderson.
