The Minnesota Timberwolves are a basketball team in the NBA. They play in the Western Conference where they are members of the Northwest Division. The team was formed in 1989 as an expansion franchise and played in the Metrodome for the first year. After a year they moved to the Target Center and established it as their new home arena. The Minnesota Timberwolves have seen many ups and downs in their career. They had a stuttering start, typical of expansion teams, when they began playing in the NBA. However the success didn’t last for long as Marbury and Gugliotta both left the team in 1998. Garnett then shouldered the responsibility of taking the team forward. The Minnesota Timberwolves made it to the playoffs eight consecutive times between 1997 and 2004. 2004 was the most successful year for the team as they won their first and only Division Title during that season.
