Although the team initially struggled with its performance after the revival, but with the arrival of Leonard Hamilton as the head coach of the team, Miami Hurricanes emerged as a better team on the basketball court. After joining the Big East, Hamilton led the team to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances along with a Sweet 16 appearance. Hamilton was later replaced by Perry Clark who didn't bring much good fortunes to the team and was eventually replaced by Frank Haith. In its previous season, the team managed to score a winning record; hence giving hopes to the fans for the coming season.
