The Masters Golf is a golfing tournament which is also referred to as “The Masters”. This is one of the four principle championships in the sport of professional golf. The event takes place annually in the first entire week of April and is also the first tournament of all the major ones to be held on an annual basis. This is a private city located in the city of Augusta, in the state of Georgia in the United States of America.
 
The Masters Golf was initiated by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts. Bobby Jones was the designer for the course of the Augusta National in collaboration with the acclaimed architect named Alister MacKenzie. This championship is also the legal money event which is on the schedule of the PGA Tour, the Japan Golf Tour and the European Tour. The field of players on this tournament is lesser than those that are on the major championships. The Masters Golf features many traditions. Ever since 1949, a green colored jacked is given to the winner of the event, who then has to give it back to the clubhouse after one year of the victory. On the other hand, the player who has won the championship many times over has to use the same green jacket each time he wins. There is also a traditional Champions Dinner which began in 1952 by Ben Hogan. This event is hosted on the Tuesday prior to the start of the tournament and is only allowed for the previous champions and a few members of the board of the Augusta National Golf Club to attend it.
 
Another tradition that started in 1963 was for the legendary golfers. The past champions are invited to come in the morning of the event and hit an honorary tee shot of the first round of the championship. Many golfers who have been a part of this tradition include, Sam Snead, Fred McLeod, Jack Nicklaus, Bryon Nelson, Jock Hutchinson, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Gene Sarazen. On the day prior to the first round of the tournament, a semi social par 3 competition on the par 3 course of the grounds of Augusta National is played since 1960.
