The team have appeared in a total of 30 NCAA Tournaments and won the National championship of 1977 and were runner-ups in 1974. Apart from this they have made it to the Sweet Sixteen rounds, a total of four times, twice in 1979 and 1994 seasons and consecutively in 2011 and 2012. After their dominating season of 2003 Marquette has continued to maintain their reputation as a national power. In the current season of 2013-2014, the team has secured a winning streak of an astounding 20 consecutive home wins at the Bradley Center.
 
Presently the team coached by the charismatic Buzz Williams maintains intense rivalries with varies University teams these include Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Men, Louisville’s Cardinals, DePaul’s Blue Demons and Pittsburgh Panther’s.
