This year was known as the “Fernandomania” by the Dodger’s fans because of their star player Fernando Valenzuela. Not only that other players like Orel Hershiser and outfielder Kirk Gibson were most memorable.

Besides the New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants also have a fierce and oldest enmity with the Dodgers in the history of baseball league. In 1958 these two teams were moved to the west for the season. Amounting to at least 21 National league pennants, the San Francisco Giants and the Dodgers have always tied. Not only that but they were also tied for the second World Series titles. The interesting fact in terms of location, which further shows the rivalry between the two teams is that as the two teams played in New York, Dodgers won only one World Series title while the Giants scraped at least five. The reverse occurred when the teams played in California, The Giants won only one in San Francisco while the Dodgers managed to win five games in Los Angeles.
