The University of Kentucky has an illustrious past in college sports with quite a lot of successes over the years. Its athletics department, called the Wildcats, is very well known across the country, and even though they have not been playing all that well recently, their football team in particular has always received generally favorable reviews from fans of the sport.

Getting Started

The Wildcats played their first official game in 1892 and like most teams that started out in football at the time, it took them a few years to find some consistency in their performances. However, they were soon posting winning seasons and in 1898 recorded their best season. Under head coach W.R.Bass, the team managed to go unbeaten and untied the entire season. They also did not let any team score against them and to this day, they are known as 'The Immortals' in Kentucky lore.

Getting Even Better

The Wildcats were among the most consistent programs in the country, yet they struggled for quite a long time to win their first major title. That changed in 1950, when the Wildcats won the conference championship and also their first and only national title. Since then they have added another conference title to their collection and have also headlined fourteen postseason bowl games in total. The time has come for them to now take on the Bulldogs in Georgia. Grab your Kentucky Wildcats Athens tickets and watch this pulsating fixture live at the Sanford Stadium.
