The Kansas City Royals will be out to show that last season was a one off. The Royals had been in very good form prior to that so it is time for them to rediscover that form this year.
The early years
The year was 1967 when the Kansas City Athletics made the move and relocated to Oakland. That meant that Kansas had no professional baseball franchise for the first time since the year 1883. Stuart Symington, a Kansas senator decided to do something about it and convinced the MLB to grant Kansas a new franchise. The league agreed and the Kansas City Royals began their journey in 1969.
Highs and lows
The Kansas City Royals first made their mark when they won three back to back division championships between 1976 and 1978. That was followed by one more division crown and the first ever pennant in 1980. 1984 saw them get their hands on one more division title and the Royals then clinched the World Series in 1985.
The Royals’ form suffered after that and in the year 2014 they bounced back to win another pennant. They were not done just yet and went on to win the division, pennant and the World Series treble in 2015.
Apart from two World Series titles, they have also won four AL Pennants and seven division championships in total. If you want to see them in action, grab your Kansas City Royals San Francisco tickets and see them take on the Giants at the AT&T Park.
