The Kansas City Royals came agonizingly close to lifting the World Series title in 2014 but they lost to the Giants in the end. However, they made amends for that near miss last time around by winning the biggest prize in the sport. It has taken them a while to reach these heights.
The Royals Arrive
The Kansas City Royals were formed in the year 1969 and got off to a slow start. It wasn’t until the mid 1970s that they began to come into their own and the Royals then made the most of it by winning their first division title in the year 1976. The trick was repeated over the next two seasons as well.
The 1980s saw them reach new heights. The Royals won the division title and the pennant in 1980. That was followed by another division championship in 1984 before the Royals went on to win the division crown, the pennant and the World Series in 1985.
Slump and Coming Back to Form
The Kansas City Royals hit a lean patch after that and did not win anything of note for almost the next three decades. It was an incredible fall from grace for a team that had reached the top in such spectacular fashion.
They kept plugging away and roared back to win the pennant in 2014. That was followed by them winning the division title, pennant and the World Series in 2015.
They are now all set to take on the Mets. Grab your Kansas City Royals Flushing tickets and watch all the action as it unfolds live at the Citi Field.
