About the Track – Kansas Speedway
The track is almost as important as the race itself. Let’s have a look at some of the specifications of the Kansas Speedway. Construction of this track began back in the May of 1999. The Construction Celebration had several big names in attendance, including NASCAR drivers Bobby Labonte, Rusty Wallace and Kenny Schrader. The ticket sales for this track began in July 1999 and the first purchase was made by Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee George Brett.
Soon the events started to flow in. In November of 1999, NASCAR and Indy Racing League made an announcement to bring events for its inaugural racing season in 2001. In August 2000, the tickets for Kansas Speedway went on sale for the residents of Wyandotte County, followed by the rest of the world five days later.
The inaugural race at the track was the weekend running the NASCAR Winston West Series Kansas 150 and the ACRA RE/MAX Series BPU 200.
