Dave Brundage is the team manager, having been active since 1995 while coaching Seattle affiliates at Double-A level and then moving up to coach Tacoma, Richmond and Gwinnett at Triple-A. He led Richmond to the 2007 League Championship. He is assisted in team selection duties by coaches Jamie Dismuke, Mary Reed, and Billy Nicholson. Gwinnett Braves blood young local talent, often emerging from the county’s two local public colleges, to prepare for the ultimate jump to MLB with the Atlanta Braves. The Braves’ long illustrious history includes famous players from the Atlanta Crackers days such as Hall of Famers Eddie Matthews and Luke Appling, and standouts from the Richmond era such as World Series winners Dusty Baker, Steve Avery, and Tom Glavine.
 
Gwinnett Braves have their history intertwined with the Richmond Braves. As the latter, the franchise landed five minor league titles (in 1978, 1986, 1989, 1994, and 2007). It was preceded by the prolific Atlanta Crackers, who dominated the Class AA Southern Association till it was disbanded in 1962. They won the most matches there and were famously dubbed “the Yankees of the Minors”.
