NBA’s Golden State Warriors will be playing against Denver Nuggets, both of which are members of the league’s Western Conference.  Last season, the Warriors took the sixth seed of the Western Conference and went on to win from the Nuggets in the playoff’s first round. In the second round however, they lost to San Antonio Spurs. The Warriors go back to 1946 in Philadelphia where they were called the Philadelphia Warriors and won their inaugural season’s championship in BAA. The latter league eventually became the NBA following its merger with the NBL. The team had to relocate a few times until finally in 1971, they took their current name upon moving to Oakland, California.

After their inaugural championship, the Warriors won two others including that of the 1955-56 season and 1974-75 season. With their last championship, they came among the top five NBA franchises. The team’s Basketball Hall of Famers at Naismith Memorial include Don Nelson, Eddie Gottlieb, Nate Thurmond and Ralph Sampson, among others. Their retired numbers include the likes of Chris Mullin, Rick Barry, Al Attles, Tom Meschery, and Wilt Chamberlain.

The Warriors are expected to deliver more promising season scores under their current Head Coach, Mark Jackson. Their game at Denver’s Pepsi Arena is not to be missed, so be there.
