The Georgia Bulldogs, also known as Bulldogs or simply Dawgs, represent the University of Georgia in Southern Conference. There are currently 19 teams that represent the University in different competitions. These teams include 10 women’s team and 9 men’s teams in games like tennis, swimming and diving, soccer, gymnastic, equestrian, cross road country, golf, track, softball, basketball, baseball, football and volleyball. The Great Uga the Bulldog was the first ever mascot that represented the team in 1956, Uga VII is the great grand dog son of Uga the Bulldog. Uga is looked after by Frank W. The Georgia Bulldogs football team is one of the oldest varsity teams of the NCAA. It is active since 1892 and has been ranked among the top teams of NCCA. The 10 Bulldogs have been inducted in to the College Football Hall of Fame, these names include; John Russell, Kevin Butler, John Rauch, Herschel Walker, Terry Hoage, Bill Stanfill, Bill Hartman, Fran Tarkenton, Charley Trippi, Vernon Catfish Smith, Bob McWhorter and Frank Sinkwich. The main rivals of Bulldogs are Florida Gators, Auburn and Georgia Tech and these rivalries is more than a century old. Bulldogs have a winning percentage of .59% against the Yellow Jackets. The Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball and Georgia Bulldogs men’s basketball represent the university in the NCAA tournaments and are the members of the Southern Conference. Lady Dogs are active since 1973 and they have yet been unable to win an NCAA title, although they reached the finals twice.  Andy Landers is the team’s coach since 1979 and has been the most successful Lady Dog Basketball coach so far. Kara Braxton, Kelly Miller, Taro Phillips, Coco Miller, Saudia Roundtree, Shrill Baker, Teresa Edwards, Katrina Johnson and Deanna Nolan have been the notable Lady Dogs. The team’s home ground is Stegeman Coliseum. The arena was opened in 1964 and has capacity for over 10 thousand viewers


Georgia Bulldogs men’s basketball is active since 1891. The team was incepted in Southeastern Conference in 1932. The Bulldogs has been the Conference Tournament Champions twice and won the conference regular season in 1990, they have also reached the NCCA Tournament Final Four in 1983. Dominique Wilkins have been inducted in to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006, other notable players include; Shandon Anderson, Sundiata Gaines, Willie Anderson, Jarvis Hayes, Jumaine Jones Litterial Green and Alec Kessler. The team is currently coached by Mark Fox. All Georgia Bulldog teams have won a total of 37 national titles and 130 Southern Conference championships so far.
