The Georgia Bulldogs is an American college football franchise that represents the University of Georgia. Members of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), the Bulldogs compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). They compete in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Coached by Mark Richt, the Bulldogs play their home games at the Sanford Stadium which is situated on the Georgia campus of the university. The team played its inaugural season in 1892. The Bulldogs are known to have three main football rivals, Georgia Tech, Auburn and Florida. They have long standing rivalries with other universities as well.
The Bulldogs won two NCAA Football National Championships and made forty eight bowl game appearances. Two of its players won the Heisman Trophy that includes Frank Sinkwich (1942) and Herschel Walker (1982). Along the way, the team earned many more awards and trophies including Walter Camp Award, Outland Trophy, ESPY Award, Chuck Bednarik Award, Draddy Trophy and Ray Guy Award amongst others.
