As of Mid-June, both the teams have already met twice at the Fenway Park. With home ground advantage, Red Sox have won both of these games, but the tides may turn when they head on over to Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati later this season. When Big Papi announced he was going to retire at the end of the season, speculation immediately turned to potential replacements for the Red Sox icon. Numerous players have been linked to the Red Sox over the course of the season, but there are only a few names which seem like actual replacements for Ortiz.

The Toronto Blue Jays’ Edwin Encarnacion is one such name. Encarnacion has a wonderful record at Fenway Park; he has struck twelve home runs, driven in thirty seven runs and his average in forty four career games at the ballpark is 0.296. Encarnacion will be out of contract at the end of this season and the Red Sox would not mind having his firepower on their side.

Another player being linked to the Boston side is Jose Bautista, who also has a superb record at Fenway Park. The slugger has belted twenty two homeruns, driven in fifty one runs and has an average of .277 in sixty games at Fenway Park. With Ortiz retiring, Bautista could very well be the player to take the Red Sox forward. He is also out of contract at the end of the season.

The third possible player being linked to the Red Sox is Mark Teixeira, the Yankees’ first baseman. Despite the fact that his offensive stats have slipped, Teixeira still remains a supremely talented first baseman and Boston could very well have Hanley Ramirez and Teixeira shared DH and first base duties next season to account for Ortiz’s retirement.

After suffering two losses at the hands of Red Sox at the Fenway Park earlier this season, Cincinnati Reds will be welcoming Boston Red Sox to their home field of Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. The two upcoming Cincinnati Reds Vs Boston Red Sox games will take place on August 12 and 13 this season. With the home ground advantage, Reds will have a chance to redeem themselves while Boston Red Sox try to sweep the series. For the past few seasons, Cincinnati Reds have been in a good shape and made three playoff appearances. Their most recent playoff appearance came last year in 2013 when Reds concluded their regular season with the final score of 90 – 72 and went on to face Pirates in the Wild Card Game. Their season was cut short by Pirates’ eventual victory in the wild card game, but this season Reds are looking more determined than ever under the leadership of a new head coach.

Boston Red Sox began their 2014 season as the reigning World Series champions, and they have a lot to show for that to their fans this season. Red Sox do have all the right ingredients needed to repeat their previous season’s endeavors, but will they capitalize on that – only time will tell. You now have the chance to watch it happening in front of it. Don’t miss!
