The historic Chicago Cubs showed they are capable of mixing it up with the best teams in the sport. They will now be looking to turn that potential into results this season as they hit the ballparks once again.
The Chicago Cubs’ 2015 season was hugely successful. They finished with the 3rd best record and qualified for the postseason as a wildcard team. The Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National League Wild Card Game 4-0 and in the process won their first postseason game in twelve years.
In the Division Series, the Cubs faced off against their rivals the St. Louis Cardinals. After losing the first game, the Cubs won the next three to progress to the NL Championship Series. Facing off against the New York Mets, the Cubs lost 4-0 which ended their journey.
An Unwelcome Record:
Despite being the oldest franchise in the league, the Cubs don not have a particularly outstanding record. They have only two World Series titles to their names, which they won in consecutive seasons way back in 1907 and 1908.
The Cubs last made a World Series appearance in 1945 and have not won the World Series in 107 years. This is the longest drought for any professional North American team playing in a major league.
The Cubs will certainly want to change all that this season, so it will be interesting to see what form they are in when they take on the Miami Marlins. To watch the series live, get your Chicago Cubs Miami tickets now.
