Members of the ‘Original Six,’ the iconic Chicago Blackhawks were formed in 1926. The franchise has played throughout their history in Chicago. The Hawks are placed in the Western Conference where they play in the Central Division. The first home stadium of the Hawks was the Chicago Stadium. However, after six and a half decades, the Hawks moved in to the newly constructed United Center.

Change of Owners

The first owner of the Hawks was Frederic McLaughlin who instilled in the franchise a sense of dedication and commitment. Under his watchful eye, the franchise evolved into a dynasty, winning two Stanley Cups. After his death in 1944, the franchise was taken over by the Norris family. The Hawks won one Stanley Cup during the Norris era in 1961. However, for the most part, the Hawks did not perform to the best of their capabilities.

Most Successful Era

In 1966, the Chicago Blackhawks were taken over by the Wirtz family. The third ownership proved to be the most successful one as the Hawks have so far won three Stanley Cups including the most recent one. Other trophies clinched by the Hawks include 4 Conference titles, 2 President’s Trophies and 15 Division titles.

Beware of the Hurricanes

Taking on the Blackhawks will be the Carolina Hurricanes, the only franchise from North Carolina based in the city of Raleigh. The Hurricanes were formed in 1971 and were known as the New England Whalers. At the time of their formation, the team played in the World Hockey Association. However, after the NHL-WHA merger in 1979, the franchise joined the NHL and became known as the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes have one Stanley Cup, two Conference titles and three division titles to their name. Be sure not to miss this exciting upcoming clash; buy Chicago Blackhawks Raleigh tickets now.
