The talented duo of Williams and Stewart will surely play an important part in the coming games for the Panthers. Williams relies heavily on his agility and speed as he weaves in and out of the defending opponents whereas Stewart makes football more of a contact sport as he puts his heavy build to good use, relying on his physical strength. The fact, that the two differ so drastically in their technique, makes them a formidable combination which can give any opposing team nightmares. No team has so far been able to come with a strategy to encounter this 'Double Trouble' but the fans will just have to wait and see if they can help the Panthers get their first Super Bowl Championship. So far, the Carolina Panthers have been able to make it to the Super Bowl only once and that was a good seven years ago, in 2003.

Jerry Richardson, a former player for the Baltimore Colts team, had a meeting with the potential sponsors to discuss the possible expansion of the NFL. They decided to build up a huge sports complex in the uptown section of Charlotte in North Carolina in hopes of an NFL expansion to the Carolina region. Even though during that time, North Carolina had not been awarded an expansion but Richards' announcement excited the city of Charlotte which the citizens showed enthusiasm for, in hopes that the NFL would see it a popular home for a new NFL franchise. The North Carolinian Senators put their weight in the favor of the expansion and began an extensive lobbying campaign which eventually worked in the best interest of the city and finally in 1992, the Charlotte was amongst the four other cities which were open to a new NFL franchise and a year later, in 1993, the team of Carolina Panthers was formed.

Over a short span of time, the Panthers have succeeded in putting an impressive record on the board. Nicknamed as the Cardiac Cats, the team has won one NFC Conference Championship to date. The much awaited victory came in 2003 and was celebrated in the whole of North Carolina region which never forgets to let a single achievement pass by without celebrating. 2003 was an overall fantastic year for the Cardiac Cats because that was when they won their NFC South Division Championship as well. They repeated their performance in 2008 too when they managed to get their mitts on their third Division title. The team's overall performance has been more than satisfactory for their fans and it has already had the honor of making four appearances in the prestigious Playoffs.

The Carolina Panthers are known for a number of rivalries. Their longest running rivalry is against their fellow NFC West Division team of the Atlanta Falcons. The Panthers rivalry with Tampa Bay may not be as old as the previously mentioned one but it is just as popular. In a total of seventeen fixtures, Carolina has won ten. The Panther's rivalry with New Orleans does not get as much attention from the fans astheir rivalry with the Dallas Cowboys which is always super exciting. For such exciting games, grab a couple of Carolina Panther tickets and enjoy.

Update 25 Jan 2016

The Carolina Panthers trounced the Arizona Cardinals 49-15 to advance to Super Bowl 50. It has been some turnaround for the Panthers and this is now their chance to finally lift their first ever Super Bowl. The Panthers have arguably been the most in form side in the NFL this year and they will be looking to make the most of this momentum. Big games however bring their own pressures and it certainly will be interesting to see how the Panthers go about playing during Super Bowl 50.

Carolina Panthers Rivalries

Atlanta Falcons

The Panthers have regularly faced the Falcons twice every year since 1995. Both are a part of the NFC South and their home-fields are in close proximity. In fact, their rivalry is called the “I-85” rivalry, after the interstate highway which connects their cities. The Panthers have maintained a narrow but consistent lead 9-5 since 1995, when they first won 23-20. Nevertheless, that is a very low margin and all eyes are on Carolina this NFL season to see if they can increase their number of wins. Atlanta, on the other hand is preparing to meet the Panthers this season, so rest assured, it will be an exciting spectacle.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers and Panthers first faced one another during the 1995 pre-season but have since played against one another only during the playoffs. They are the only two teams from the NFC South to appear in the Super Bowl since 2002, when the division first started. They have been known to get very physical, most notably when the Panthers ruptured Chris Simms’ spleen in 2006, leading to an urgent surgery for the quarterback. Kavika Pittman too was severely injured by the Panthers which led to a shocking end to his career. Since then Tampa has been keen on avenging their teammates, let’s see if they can succeed in that this season.

Cam Newton has apologized for his comments

Cam Newton has apologized for the sexist comments he made to Jourdan Rodrigue. Rodrigue asked Newton about passing routes and the Panthers’ QB replied with “It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes.” Newton was implying that women were not qualified to talk about nuances of football tactics. Now Newton has tweeted a video and apologized and said that his comments were “extremely degrading and disrespectful to women."Will this be the end of the matter? We will just have to wait and see.

Is Marty Hurney really returning to the Panthers?

On Monday, the Carolina Panthers stunned their fans by parting ways with their General Manager, Dave Gettleman. It was a huge shock for everyone because under Dave, the Panthers had made the playoffs three times out of four. He had also done a lot of work to clear the mess created by the man he replaced, Marty Hurney. Now according to multiple reports, the Panthers’ management is thinking about bringing Marty Hurney back to replace Gettleman. If this is true, then all the best to the Panthers management because it will have some explaining to do.
