California Golden Bears represent the University of California in 27 collegiate sports programs. The team is more commonly known as just California or Cal, and is the member of the Pacific-10 Conference representing the university in the NCAA’s Division I. The Golden Era for the team started in 1920 when they claimed their first Rose Bowl win which was followed by three more consecutive wins. The most recent national championship title came to Golden Bears in 1937, when they claimed their 5th Rose Bowl win while being led by Stub Allison.

Golden Bears Men’s Basketball team plays its home games at the Haas Pavilion, which replaced the old Harmon Gymnasium. Men’s Basketball was played for the first time at an intercollegiate level back in 1907, while it was in 1915 when the full conference play kicked off. Like Golden Bears football team, Men’s Basketball team also enjoyed the height of its success during the 1920s. During that era, the team managed to claim a total of six conference titles that were won under the successive leadership of the head coaches E.H Wright and Nibs Price. Nibs Price had long 30-year tenure as the head coach of the team, and during that period he led the team through highly successful era. During his tenure that lasted from 1924 to 1954, the team managed to attain three conference titles, single season winning records and also a total record of 449-294. But Pete Newell took the team to the top of the food chain during his five years as the head coach of the team. Out of these five years, the team managed to claim the conference title four times apart from grabbing the NCAA Titles back in 1959.
