Career at a glance
Multi-Platinum Rock band ZZ Top released their first album in 1971 ZZ Top's First Album. That was followed by Rio Grande Mud (1972) which produced their first charting single. ZZ Top were put on the map by their album Tres Hombres (1973) and a national tour that sold out venues. Album, Fandango! (1975) reached the top ten, and Tejas in 1976 did relatively well too. The band then took a two year long hiatus.
They signed with Warner Records and released Degüello (1979) which went Platinum. In 1980, they made their first appearance in Europe on the television show Rockpalast. El Loco (1981) and Eliminator (1983) which had two top-40 singles, and two additional Top Rock hits.
The band also won its first two MTV Video Music Awards. The album Afterburner (1985) became the band's highest-charting album, all of the singles from were Top-40 hits, with two hitting number one on the Mainstream Rock chart. Recycler (1990) was ZZ Top's last album with Warner Records and the single My Head's in Mississippi reached No. 1 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart.
In 1994, they released the album Antenna and then followed that up by coming out with Rhythmeen (1996), XXX (1999) and Mescalero (2003). In 2004, they were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
